Hi,
I would love to know how many adults with TBPI will be going to camp, or at least get and Idea. If I can show my son that it is not all babies going, maybe I could coax him into going. He is 19 years old with right Bracial Plexus, 7 months post surgery.
Thanks,
Maureen

Re: Going to Camp, please advise your age
I will be 26 by the time I get to camp =). My injury happened when I was 22 (23?) about 2.5 years ago. I am left BPI from a motorcycle accident.
The last camp was an interesting eye opener for me. We didn't have many adults (I consider most anyone adult if you've had to deal with TBPI) but of those that came I think it really changed their outlook about this injury. It's hard to truly understand the full life-changing reaction that happens after TBPI. A lot of that life-changing isn't bad but until you see others living with the injury it's hard to fully appreciate that.
I'd encourage anyone who is even slightly interested in just hanging out in a great setting and relaxing to come to camp. At least there will be a ton of people there who don't mind helping you out because they understand. It's hard not to let someone help you with your bags after the 5th offer to lighten your load. It's just a good feeling to have people understand that it isn't that you can't do something it's just much easier with some help.

Re: Going to Camp, please advise your age
I will be at camp this year. I am a 23 RTBPI after a car accident just over 2 years ago. I just recently found these boards so I didn't even know of a camp 2 years ago. I am extremly excited to meet people with this type of injury, for the longest time I felt like I was totally alone. My mom will be coming with me, we are coming from Michigan. I am excited to see and learn new things about this and just to meet the people. Hope to see you there!!!

Rob,
That means you aren't on our mailing list because Camp was featured in the last issue. And there is a wonderful article by Liz and Jenny on pain that you might also want to read in that issue. So send me your mailing address and I'll get an issue out to you and add you to the list if you'd like.

I should be there...if everything goes OK with booking flights etc...as usual, I have to leave it all until the last minute! I'm in my fifties now, although I have to admit I don't feel it...not too old for all you young people I hope! Looking forward to meeting as many people with a TBPI as I can...
