Does anyone know of a pediatric chiropractor &/or acupuncturist in the Chicago area that is experienced with obpi babies? For some reason I am having a hard time finding one. It just seems that prior to finding this website none of the therapists or even my own chiropractor were very helpful with resources. Please help, I really want to try some other things before considering surgery but my son is already 9 mos. old and I feel like we are just really starting to find resources and understand his conditions (he also has bilateral rigid club feet and had casting & surgery for that 3 mos ago and wears disabling braces now- so we've been quite overwhelmed to say the least).

Kiela - you probably won't find an alternative doc or therapist that has experience with bpi. Your best bet is to find a really good who loves to work with kids and is passionate about their work. Try a health food store to see if they can suggest anyone. Or try a yoga center - places where people with an alternative mindset might gather.
I highly suggest that you see them privately first and have them work on you - I'm sure you have some aches and pains somewhere. Get to know them - see if you like their approach and their attitude. You will know from your own experience who you will want to bring your child to.
Just like any other professionionals - there are good ones and bad ones out there. Weed out the bad ones BEFORE you bring your child there.
Hope you find someone really great!

I have the name of a chiroprator in St. Charles if that helps. He worked on our daughter when she was only 3 months old. After not moving her arm at all at 3 months she shrugged her shoulder after the 2nd visit. Please email us if you would like his name and number.

Please get back to us and let us know if your chiro worked out, maybe the UBPN group could begin posting chiros experienced with BPIs on the medical web site?

UBPN is currently working on the medical resource directory updates to the bpi specialists page. We have sent out questionnaires to therapists and will soon be putting up the therapists directory.
We will consider doing something with alternative medicine for the future but it will not happen until the work on the therapists is complete.
Thank you for the suggestion
