Hello everyone.
My son Khiron (pronounced like Tierun, but Khiron) is LOBPI and will be 17 months old on the 20th of this month. Khiron is having the Mod Quad procedure on May 19, 2003. Our family will be in Houston on Sat. May 17, and leaving Houston on Sat. May 24, due to cheaper airline rates. We will be staying at the Marriott. Anyone else at TCH at the same time?

Yes Louise - it's a freakin Catch 22. I've met the most amazing people through this injury - including you and your family. I never would have met any of you guys had it not been for this problem.
It's amazing that we have to look at these surgeries -for our kids sake- almost as though it's normalcy. I certainly don't want Maia to go into a depression everytime she has surgery. So I'm caught between an extremely excited and happy opportunity viewpoint and a really sad place.
The difference this time from last time is that she is so present and completely understands every thing about what is going to happen and why and whatfor. She's sleeping well and having good times at school, etc. so I don't think it's getting to her. Actually any behavioral disturbances right now is most probably from the corticosteroids she has to be on for her lungs.
Oh well..rambling here... yea - it sucks that we are going to meet for dinner but on the other hand I'm so grateful to know that we won't be in the recovery room alone. Last time we were in recovery with 6 other bpi families that we all knew from previous picnics. It was just FANTASTIC.
One minute has certainly changed the lives of a lot of people. If only they knew what type of devastation occurs after their one minute of brainlessness.
big hugs Louise and happy mother's day!

Happy Mother's Day!
To the families that will be at TCH next week-
I am truly happy there will be a band of support in the recovery room for our families.
Does anyone know the rules regarding siblings at TCH? I have a 2 yr old that will be in TX also.
Francine-
I will call the Crowne Sunday morning. See you in TX!

We will be there too!
My daughter, Megan, is 7. LOBPI
She is having a nerve transfer to the musculeotanous.
She has had the primary and Mod-quad. We hope and pray this will enable her to use her bicept! We live about 30 mins from Houston, we are lucky. I am very nervous but excited too, such a conflict of emotions. I am not sure what time the surgery will be but they sound as if they will be busy, huh? Best of luck to all of you. I will add you to my prayers.
