Day 3 - Trial for Cassidy!

Post by Anita Hammer »

Well Day 1 was ruff! Doc testified - if you want to call it that - or we can call it what it was - she sat there and lied through her teeth and shifted the blame everywhere but on herself - which was who caused it!

Yesterday I testifed along with our expert witness and we showed video of Cassidy. Here's the kicker on that one! The Independant Medical Exam - that the Defense Attorney ordered. . . is in our favor - and that is the video tape we showed - THEIR DOCTOR EXAMINING MY CHILD WITH HIS FINDINGS! That didn't make them very happy!

Then of course I testified - that was a little tough. It brings back a lot of old memories of hard things we've all had to deal with that you harden to over the years. . . but then I kept looking up and seeing my ex-husband (Cassidy's Dad) in tears whenever I was talking about this - and in my mind I'm thinking why is he crying? He wasn't there to do all the hard stuff - he didn't have to do the therapy that made her scream or stay the night in the hospital with her when every time she fell asleep someone came in to poke or prod her! And that's when it hit me! He never had to harden to it in order to do it! He had an out! Work! Whenever things got too hard - he had to go to work. He left and went to work for 8 or 10 hours and got to put it in the back of his mind! So then I felt bad!

He's got to testify this morning - so this should be pretty rough! And then we're showing the video of Dr. Laurant's Deposition.

Anyone thinking of retaining Ken Levine for this - GOOD DECISION! I couldn't be happier! One of his references that he gave me before I hired him told me that he was a pit-bull! Once he sunk his teeth in you can't beat him off with a stick! And now I see why she said that! It's true! He gets pretty emotionally involved. I feel like he was there with us through all of this! He's very dedicated - and very good! He's got my vote - and we haven't even reached verdict yet!

I think even if we loose - we fought a good fight!

Let's hope we don't loose! Anyone who prays - I would appreciate your prayers - those who don't - your thoughts!

More updates later!
