We brought Ella to her aqua therapy eval today. She will have aqua therapy for OT. She still has PT 1X weekly through Birth to Three. My insurance company allows 50 PT, OT, speech, etc. visits as therapies to be covered. Right now she has no co-pay with birth to three, but with aqua therapy it will be $15 per visit...so $15 weekly. I don't mind much about the co-pay even though that will run us $60 monthly. I am concerned about how they will bill the insurance company. I will not have enough visits covered having PT 1Xweekly still and aqua therapy 1Xweekly. The OT said she will talk to my PT now about Ella's visits. I think they will decide what is more important for her. I really don't want her to lose any services. She is 18 months now and it is a great time for her to begin the aqua therapy, but I know PT is important also. If I have to choose PT on land or aqua therapy both for 1X weekly...what should I do? Very confused about this whole thing. (I hate insurance companies!)

I think you are in Wisconsin, right? We use Birth to Three also. You can ask your coordinator about not billing your insurance company for the services they are providing. We did this because we became concerned about Tristan reaching his lifetime maximum. For us it was no problem - we just signed a form and they stopped billing our insurance and covered the services entirely through Birth to Three.

I loved water therapy when we did it- often times we would do that instead of land therapy- can you mix them around?

why don't you get aqua t for a few days just so that you get an idea of what to do then you do the aqua therapy yourself? That way she is not missing out on anything. I got permission from a local hotel with a heated pool (93 degrees)to use for Aarons A.T.
