Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

No idea how to contact the TV people except maybe look them up on the internet??? As far as the newspaper goes, just tell them what you want them to know, and nothing else! I guess Joe's the most important person here, my eldest was HORRIFIED that I put her on the internet without asking her permission (only a photo but it makes you see how they have a right to privacy as much as we do, I got told off good, no more public access to pics of my kids until they are old enough to say yes or no....). It's going to be about Joe and Joe's injury, so if he has strong feelings about stuff he DOESN'T want in the article, make sure that they don't put it in, and its often a good idea to ask to see the finished story before publication. The article will not only be a boost to people with tbpi, but to people with other arm affecting conditions too-we all know losing the arm isn't the end of the world but it's nice to spread the word sometimes.
This is great news, not only that he's doing baseball but that he wants to share his story, he must be adjusting so well to one armed life and you should all be very proud of yourselves.Post a link here when it appears if you can. I'd love to see it, and maybe ask Joe if we can link it to the tbpi group site http://tbpiukgroup.homestead.com/index_1.html ....
thanks for sharing :0)
