Has anyone used CA Children's Services (CCS) for surgery?

Post by admin »

It has been brought to our attention that we can use this group of people. Has anyone ever used them? How did the surgeries turn out? What are some pros and cons? Immediate help is needed!

Thanks,

We have been involved with CCS in California since my daughters was a few months old. They have some doctors on their staff and others who they contract services with. They can and do pay for and provide a variety of services from OT, PT, evaluations, splints, other supplies and yes surgery if necessary.

We take our daughter to their clinic every 6 months or so for ongoing evaluations and they have been very helpful and attentive to our situation and needs for the past 7 years when we first got involved with them.

We were refferred to Stanford for a new type of sural nerve graft surgery but were not comfortable allowing our daughter to be used as a ginuea pig so we found another pediatric neuro-surgeon at Loma Linda University Medical Center childrens hospital on our own and CCS agreed to pay for surgery there.

We had opted for a more conservative exploration and repair of damaged brachial plexus nerves and unfortunately the damage was too great to repair so the surgery did not help our daughter.

I was very glad and apprecative that CCS was willing to let my wife and I take the lead on the treatment approach and didn't force us into making choices that we weren't comfortable with.

I wish you luck with your child and hope you are able to get hooked up with CCS. They have been great and have helped us beyond our expextations.
