So I made my phone calls and got some current rates... current rates mean TODAY! they change pretty frequently and sometimes based on who you talk to at the hotels... I might just try again later! (LOL)
Marriott - has the Entertainment Card rate of $69/night for Sat and Sun alone - but if you are into swimming- they have a heated indoor pool (the only one in the area)... on all other nights it starts at $109 medical rate.
Crowne Plaza - medical rate is $109
Holiday Inn - medical rate is $69 no kitchen and $79 with kitchen
Wellesley Inn - $69 with full kitchen queen size bed
$79 with full kitchen king size bed
Radisson Astrodome - $55 medical rate (as per Linda)
Best Western Medical Center - $79 medical rate but their indoor pool is NOT heated (ugh)
Holiday Inn AND Wellesley Inn did have Entertainment card rates as well but the medical rate was cheaper.
They all have shuttles....
So this time we will be staying Sat & Sun at the Marriott on the Entertainment Card rate (so we can swim) and then on Monday we move to the Wellesly Inn on the medical rate (so we can cook our own food) - both at $69 a night.
If anyone's down there over the weekend and wants to join us swimming at the Marriott - just give us a call .. last name is LITZ.
TCH hotel update
Re: TCH hotel update
Hi. We are making plans to take our son Owen to TCH March 24 - 28. We are looking into hotels and flight info. Your plans seem good for us as well. How do you get an Entertainment card rate? Do you have the phone numbers already?
Re: TCH hotel update
Id like to comment on the astrodome Raddison.. we stayed there and it wasnt very nice. I dont reccomend that place.

Owen's parents:
here's the link I put up about purchasing an Entertainment card cheaply - $20
http://ubpn.org/messageboard/thread ... hread=5005
Mariott only accepts Entertainment card for Sat and Sunday nights though.
If you are going to TCH for surgery - both parents can actually sleep at the hospital - they have a double day bed in the room. I'm not sure how old Owen is but if he's a baby you can actually ask the hospital to get a bed instead of a crib and one of you can sleep in bed with him and the other parent on the day bed. There are bathrooms with showers/tubs in the rooms, too so you don't even have to save the hotel room to get cleaned up.
all the phone numbers for the hotels and airlines are here:
http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/travel.html
Another good page to read is called What To Expect on the day of Surgery: http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/dayofsurg.html
We won't be able to meet up with you because you will be there a week ahead of us - but good luck with whatever you are going there for.
Patty -thanks for the heads up on the Radisson!

Re: TCH hotel update
When we went to Texas, we stayed at the residence inn. It was great....the medical rate was $72.00 and it is like an studio apartment. They have free shuttles to the medical center....we were pleased with our stay there. Call and check out the rate, it may have gone up a few dollars

I'm going to TCH March 23rd and we are actually staying at the Holiday Inn. We were given a rate of $59.00 a night with a kitchenette (Small ref, stove, micro etc..) I doublechecked after reading your post. Your rates were correct for medical, but mine is correct if you ask for "Brachial Plexus Rate" Hope this helps someone, every penny counts

Re: TCH hotel update
I got the $59 bpi rate at Holiday Inn - kitchenette and all! WOW! Thanks! Now at least we are a little (a LOT) closer to the hospital and at even a better rate!
(you know back in the recesses of my mind somewhere I knew there was a bpi rate - I had it on my site- but I totally forgot about it! - thanks for the heads up again!)

Re: TCH hotel update
I just wanted to post too. If you stay at the crown plaza and you want it cheaper you can ask for two full size beds instead of paying the 109 for medical rate which has a king size bed and two other beds in it you will pay 89.00. Also the crown I found to be at a beter location To the west tower. Thats where we had to go For Mod quad on 2-24-03. Since I stayed at the Marriott and the crown The crowns rooms are alot bigger and the window goes to the ground so the little ones just love it. I was alot happier with The crown plaza service then the Marriotts. Plus the Marriot quoted 130 for being on medical floor with discount and it turned out to be actually 158. We payed an extra $10 to be on that floor but actually we were a floor below that. Hope this helps too.
