Hi all! I am mommy to Elizabeth who had her primary at 4mo at tch in November. I'll apologize for being silent and offer my humble excuses and then I'll fill you in on Lizzie. Thanks so much for the emails you sent checking in on us! They really meant a lot. I'm not the best at replies under the best of circumstances. I guess whenwe got back from Houston it was a big "Whew" and then in December we took my 2yo to the doc because she started falling and shaking. She has lost her vocabulary. So tomorrow we take her in for an MRI of her brain. The one good thing is that I can take both girls to pt/ot at the same time. Hey, where's my group discount? anyway, I am kinda overwhelmed right now...
Ok, here's the scoop on Lizzie, she ended up having c7,8 and t1 avulsed. The others were of course a mess too. They were straight up with us. "She won't write with that hand or play piano , our goal is sensation and for her to be able to use it to help the other." Talk about a pit in your stomach! She did breeze through surgery though and we flew home straight from the hospital. I will stay afew extra days when we go back for mod quad. Now, at 4 months post op she still hasn't regained all of the movements she had. but she has some new twitches, which is exciting! Right now, she can shrug her shoulder and bring her wrist in. Her fingers have a reflexive grasp and during her pt you can feeling her pushing out although only when you hold her arm. It's not much, but we'll take it! So we just keep putting one foot in front of the other. God did answer prayers as far as sending us to a primary doc who fought for us. The insurance company pitched a fit about paying and he fought for us. The thing is, he didn't even tell us until we got home. He did all the fighting for us! What a guy! Ok this is long, so I'll go, but thanks again for your patience with me. Big hugs to all of you!
