Washington State Puget Sound residents who have a child between the ages of three years and seven years five months diagnosed with a unilateral brachial plexus palsy, and have not yet had surgery; I am seeking participants for a study on functional outcomes for this group of children. Please contact me should you be interested in having your child participate in this study. Thanks.

Thank-you so much for responding. At the present time, I can only accept those participants who have not had surgery, and who are between the specified ages. I am collecting data on the children themselves and therefore can not accept data that had been previously collected. I would be interested in keeping in contact as I may want to do a study on children who have had surgery. If you know of any children that would fit my criteria, I would appreciate it if you could pass the information on. Thanks again for the response.

Lucretia,
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself please?
Are you affiliated with a university or a medical school?
Do you have human subjects review board approval for a study of this nature involving children?
We'd all like to help but would like to know a bit more before giving out personal information.
Thank you.

I am currently a practicing OT (18 years experience) pursuing a Master of Science degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Occupational Therapy. Yes, I do have Institutional Review Board approval dated 12/26/2002. If you are interested in participating in the study or want more information, you may email me and I will send you the Letter Requesting Assistance that describes the study, and the Consent to Contact permission form that would permit us to communicate further. Thanks for your interest in this study. Lucretia Berg

My email address is

I would be happy to provide you with more information via email if you would prefer, or by regular mail if you would like official copies of the study letter of request and consent forms sent to you. Thanks for your interest in this study. Lucretia

Thank you for your interest in this study. I am a practicing occupational therapist (18 years) pursuing my Master of Science degree from the University of Puget Sound. This study received Institutional Review Board approval on 12/26/2002 permitting me to not only pursue the study, but collect the data with the children as well. I may be reached via email
bergluc@msn.com if you would like more information regarding the study. I can then attach the informational letters and the consent to contact forms should you be interested in participating in the study. Thank you again for your interest. Lucretia

Hi Lucretia,
Thanks for responding with the information. You can understand why we want to be careful where chldren are involved. Good luck with your research. I hope you are able to get enough of a sample size for your research. Please let us know the results of your study, ok?
One of the reasons why the email may not be showing up is that you aren't logged in when you are posting, and it shows up as guest. That is also why there is lag time between when you post and when you see it, because guest posts must be approved by board moderators before they go up on the message board. If you want to make sure you are logged in, you can look in the upper right corner of your screen and it will tell you if you are logged in or not.
