I am 22 years old and I have erbs palsy in my right shoulder and arm. My sisters little boy JJ, was born with cerebral palsy and adhd. Next year he has to go to a public school with no teacher aids with him. Basically JJ will have to fend for himself. I remember like it was yesterday what kids did to me in school. They would make fun of my bad arm, push me into lockers, and say the most cruel names to me every day. Several times they shoved me down stairs. Now if someone were to hit JJ in his head he could die because of the shunt in his skull. Plus he just finished having a major leg operation too. All I know is I do not want JJ to go through school like I did. Im open for any suggestions.

Hi. I at my school there is a girl with CP and she has a helper to help her walk around from one class to another and stays with her most of the day except when she is eating her lunch. If he is starting primary school i suggest you ask his parents to go to the school and ask for a teachers assistant to help him out by walking him to the lunch room and to the play ground and surely in the playgroud there is a supervisor?? i know this happens in scotland there is more than one. Im sure if you explain the school they will make a comprimise for his condition. I can understand why you are concerned bcos kids jst keep gettin crueler dont they?! I woudlnt leave it though you should go to the school.

JJ has got to face it as we all have had to, not that I think it's fair but I think it's what's meant to be.
My Aunt is severely mentally handicapped, 63 y.o(she wasn't supposed to live past 1, I think she bested those DR.s)toughest old lady I know. Like my aunt, we just have to push on through.
Make sure JJ knows how you feel about him every day, talk to him see how things are going,stay on top of things and he'll have the strength of the Gods and probably out do us all.

i feel that all disabled people are treated badly in any kind of public situation. school,work, etc. any situation where your different. we are (we being erbs meaning arm type injury) is worse because it is less noticeable (sorry for the spelling). it never gets any better. the older you get the more bothersome it becomes to the point where outside interference is not tollerated. i was bullied by as many teachers as i was students even though i was acedemically successful and tried to play school sports. the teachers were worse only because i was looking to them for some sort of guidence. children can be cruel but adults judge you so much. sometimes i think that you are better off severely disabled (wheel chairs, crutches, etc.) while going to shriners ( in san francisco ) i was as i saw it treated differnt because i "only had an arm injury"
but what can you do without you arms. run thats it no joke. everything else takes your arms or hands.and your hands only work if your arms can take them there. sorry i have issues lol
