Ian's Birthday

Today is Ian's ninth birthday...every year this day brings with it the same curious mixture of happiness and grief, for Ian's birthday was the most traumatic experience of my life. It was also the most beautiful. It has been so hard to reconcile over the years these two conflicting emotional pulls, and perhaps it will always be that way.
At least for now I feel that I have been able to finally accept and even embrace these contrasting feelings. Reality, and our (mine and Ian's) experiences are what they are. There is nothing I can do to change the past, but there is so much I can do to make the future bright for my son, and so much for me to cherish about him right now!
I love my son so much, he is truly the shining star in my life.

Wow, 9 years old. Awesome. How time flies.
Treasure the day, Bridget, with all of its varying emotions. It is all part of what makes Ian who he is and you who you are.
He has a very bright future in front of him. I am watching him grow up with delight in my heart.

9 Years old!...I can't wait to see my girls when they are 9! It seems like it's forever from now, but I know how fast time flies! Hope you both had a great day!
