Mod Quad/6yr old first surgery

My son is scheduled Feb 5 for mod quad. I am concerned over the recovery time and potential problems. Does anone have any experiences similar. My son is highly fuctional but his shoulder is turning in more and of course he has increased winging. He also has a bent elbow giving the appearance of shortening. People are noticing his sloped shoulder and how he compensates. I am worried that he might be as functional as he will ever be and with surgery I might take him back? Any help or words of wisdom? thanks Carol
