one arm shorter...

Hi!!! I am the mother of a 3 year old with a brachial plexus injury. One arm is shorter that the other and we would like to know if anyone had any type of procedure to somewhat correct this as an older child or adult. Is it even possible to correct in any way? Also, did other kids make fun ?(or other adults for that matter) I am also worried about that aspect of it- How to prepare her for socialization without over doing it to the point where she may feel self conscious or more self conscious. Help! LOL!!!!!

Has your child been assessed by a brachial plexus specialist?

I am asking because the kids do usually have an arm length discrepancy but it may look worse then it might possibly be if the humerus is not positioned correctly (due to contractures, etc.). Maia's arm did look very short for a very long time, but when she had her surgeries it did look so much better.

Another thing that I believe has helped is doing the nighttime e-stim - TES. You do it all night long - it's like a soft purr... and it brings circulation to the arm and also growth hormones that circulate at nighttime and these hormones are supposed to help with bone growth.

i'm in my teens and my right arm is a lot shorter than the other. doesn't really matter until i tie my shoe laces!
