WHAT I THINK...

What Ithink is why don't these Dr.s get off their asses try some stem-cell research and tell us what the damn result was. I mean, they can replace limbs, operate on a baby in the whomb, etc. Why can't they give us something. I see the same old SHIT, Why...?, What...?, When...?. But here WE don't end up with shit.
I don't care if you kick me off of your site, I think we, OBPI's & TBPI's, desever something more than trying to answera our own questions.
Give us a Dr., give usd answers, give us hope or give us a DAMN break.

Wow Steve!
I asked one of the leading bpi specilaists in the UK about stem cell research and if it would benefit our children/group members. His response was that although there seems to be a lot of hype about stem cell research and the like, that it is MANY years away from being useful and then it will only be suitable for people with new peripheral nerve injuries.
this is a depressing fact for many people, so I guess that's why they carry on doing the same type of surgeries with a few tweaks here and there, to try and help as best they can.
Sorry I haven't been able to help, but I just wanted to respond to your obvious frustration.
What does your specialist say to you when you ask these questions? ( or should I hazard a guess at that!)

Hey Steve
I know just how you feel... as far as answers go... Until some long term study is done no one will have answers...
Also they need to count us ... when we are injured there is no requirement to report it -----so000 no one is really counting us....
There is money for research but no one is applying for money to study the long term effects of this birth injury... We need someone who wants to lower the statistics... but first we need accurate ones... and that is just the tip of the ice berg...
I have contacted more government agencies to find out who is in charge of counting birth injured babies... and guess what - "no one is counting".... bpi babies.
So I will stay pro active and keep trying to find out how to get us counted in the tally of injured people...then maybe someone will try to lower the statistics...

I LOVE YOU KATH !!!!
Every time I get bent over something, you come along with a kind word or some info. that makes me step back and rethink my REDNECK outlook.
Since we lost my Father(8-29-02)I tend to slip from time to time. He was always able to kick start my happy thoughts, he inspired me.
Thank you

I am so sorry to hear about you Dad... No wonder your thoughts are not right on track...
Since your Dad was able to put you on track... its ok if you slip off.... I hope soon you will be able to think about what he would say when you hit the wall...
Hope you have a better day...
But your feelings are not wrong.... it is upsetting to realize that this does not have to happen to another child... and that it was time for them to address our needs now that we are adults... and stop pretending nothing is wrong with our arms...

We all get frustrated from time to time - glad you have somewhere to turn to and people willing to respond in a helpful way. If nobody is willing to ask the tough questions we wont get answers - Thanks, I didn't know that!
