Hi Debbie - here's the list
http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/travel.html
Call the medical mercy, mercy flights, angel flights, and so forth... many of them will also get you transportation from the plane to the hotel...
Also - if it's just you and your son - you only need the hotel to stay in for the night before. You will be sleeping with your son in the hospital (they have a couch bed) so you don't need to keep the hotel during that time.
The last time we did surgery - it was really economical - we both stayed in the hospital and we went right from discharge to the airport. And we ate pizza while there when we remembered to eat.... it can be done! lol

well - those companies I listed are usually private pilots... but the major airlines should be able to get you free airfare as well.
Is there anyone who you could ask to help you fund your hotel stay? For example- are you a member of a religious organization? Religious groups 'love' helping out one of their own with needs like this usually. One of the hotels across the street from the hospital is the Marriott.... any business people you know who travel a lot and can give up some Mariott points?
Have you already requested free airfare from the major airlines?
Good luck in making all of these plans.... gosh when I think back of how much time all this planning took and while emotionally distraught over surgery ... my heart goes out to you.
Keep on trying - you will get the free air fare I'm sure!

Thanks Debbie, I sent you a detailed email just confirming some information that we had from last fall. Once I get that back, I will fax the letters to Southwest and Northwest and then if there are any other airlines, please let me know.
Thanks again,
Tami
Please feel free to email me if anyone has any other suggestions or options. Francine's list is pretty comprehensive with the contact names and numbers, and they usually just require a letter from UBPN and sometimes from the doctors office.

Hi Debbie,
You can also get tickets from American. We flew at the end of Oct. for just $10.00 per ticket processing fee. 3 free tickets. They were very nice. Tami can send a letter to themm too. She helped us within a matter of 2-3 weeks.
