Bone Stimulator

After mentioning I would have to use a bone stimulator to aid my fractured wrist, a couple of you asked me about it. I fractured my left wrist, obpi arm on July 13 and last month my xrays still were not good. After one month xrays did show improvement but I still have to wear it for at least 5 more weeks. I have osteoporsis is probably the reason, but I wonder if some of it is because it's my obpi arm. Who knows. Any way....

I asked the rep about our condition and she knew nothing about it, but did write down the following for me:
EBI Bone Stimulator
Pulsed electro magnetic fields or PEMFS used for non unions, failed fusions, congenital pseudo-arthrotress.
their web site is WWW.EBImedical.com

The way the booklet read that she left, it didn't seem to be somethng that would help the erbs. Francine probably knows more about this than I can get from the booklet.
Some people I have talked to says this stimulator does not help heal fractures, but so far I have benefited from it.

sharon - I think that this equipment is so interesting and can be so worthwhile if it works. I don't have any personal experience with it - but if you say you are getting benefit then that's a great reference for me. We are using TES - the nighttime estim for maia's arm. It is a very low level amount of stim - it doesn't cause any muscle contraction - it just brings circulation to the area. This means more blood and more growth hormones that get secreted at night... Dr. Pape wrote about how this growth hormone concept should help the children regain some length in their arms as well. So if TES can help regenerate bone - then I'm sure this other type of stim has a good chance as well.

It's one of those things that I think would be hard to measure because each person heals differently. But I can tell you that we saw changes in Maia's arm just 6 weeks following the start of TES. Have we seen anything since then? I have no clue because how do I know "what" is causing change in her? Is it surgery? Is it therapy? Is it Reiki? or is it the sweet kisses I put on her arm everyday? and maybe it's all of the above working together. I trust my gut on the theories alone and have faith in the concepts. Maybe it's a placebo effect from having that faith as well. No one will ever know for sure.

My theory: if it works, keep on doing it!
