Hello,
Didn't Nancy Birk have the surgery??? She's a little older than 15. (Smile)
I would ask lots of questions and find out why they think he's too old!

I would take Cameron for another opinion or another evaluation with the last surgeon. It might be that the surgery they were advocating when he was younger is not suitable now, but certainly they will be able to look at Cameron and his function now and maybe there is some different surgery available for him.
Remember that even if you get another opinion, you are not bound by it and the decision to operate or not to operate should be made by all of you, including Cameron.
The fact that he has showed some interest now means that he may be more open to new ideas than when he was younger.
The only thing I would say, is if you don't at least ask the questions - you'll spend a lifetime wondering " I wonder if ......"
if you look for information, you don't necessarilly need to have the surgery, but at least it will be an informed decision.
I wish you well - Cameron sounds a lovely young man.
