sir i'm 22 yrs old and i met with an accident 3months ago in which my right hand was injured and it was diagnoised as brachial plexus. As i see my bycep, deltoid(both the anterior and the posterior) and the lower part of the shoulder muscle (i don't know what is it called)shrinkin. To avoid that i was suggested to go for Galvanin stimulation (which i'm still doin) but the changes that have occured since then is that i can lift my hand lyin on bed (in forward direction and sideways)as this is the case my doctor who is neuro surgeon suggests me to go for a sugery.I wanted to ask u that do u find any solution to my problem (if i'm able to make my self clear ) and what would u suggest me to do,I would really be thankful to u if u come out with a solution to my problem
thankin u

Hi Santosh, it's a really good sign that you can move your hand/lower arm already, many of us never get to that stage! Your neurosurgeon probably thinks you have a good chance of some reinnervation from surgery because of this. I don't know where you are but there is a list of some bpi specialists you can access from the home page here, under 'Medical Resources'. There are many others that aren't listed, just ask and someone usually knows of one somewhere near.
Good lucck, keep us posted on your recovery. :0) Jen /nZ

my son had a BPI of the C-5 & C-6 ,in 1997 the whole time he was able to move his hand at the wrist, and was able to push his arm down if you held it up & bent at the elbow he could push it down, but as far as raising it up or moving it out from the body no, he had surgery april 7 1998 and he now has full recovery back, his surgans were Dr Kline and Dr Tiel in new orleans,he was 17 when hurt and is now 22
his name is ERRETT

thanx to u both,Its really soothing to see someone to boost my moral this way.20 dayz back i was asked to go for ENMG test and as my test's revealed some improvement my neuro surgeon advised me for excrutiating wait for another 3months.I see that my muscle shrinking became stagnant and i see some movements regaining but still its hard for me but that's k i think i'll learn to live with it.lookin to ur problems i think i could make it. Any way thanx to u both cos u ppl have really been helpful to me
