Hi Friends,

Our sons surgery is on this Friday and we are in need of prayers and good wishes! He will be having the muscle tendon transfer. He will be 3 in Dec. His movement is quite well and am worried that he will loose some of it. He needs the surgery due to a growth spurt and the fact that the bone is starting to pop out of the shoulder. So, please say some prayers for us.

Also, can anyone help with clothing ideas for after the surgery.

Thank you for all of your support in advance!

Felicia

Hi Felicia - I hope that things go well on Friday. We will keep you and your little one in our thoughts and prayers.

About the clothes... you didn't mention where you were having surgery so I have no clue what the immobilization will be like. I can only go by my experience at TCH when Maia had the capsulodesis and mod quad surgeries and for both of them we just bought t-shirts that were 2-3 sizes larger.

Good luck and let us know how things are going.
God Bless,
francine

Prayers on the way.

When Matthew had both of his surgeries we purchased clothes one size bigger and they worked great.

Hi Felecia, My nephew had a muscle transfer also. He had it done 2 weeks ago. He is 3 1/2. I gotta tell you that I was sooo nervous and worried that they were doing the right thing by having the surgery. His movement was also good.(before the surgery) We won't know the outcome yet. But don't worry, it will be much harder on you then it will be for him.
the day after surgery he was running around the hospital. As for the clothing... Do you do any sewing?? Fortunatly I do so I got some clothes at the good will 1 or 2 sizes bigger and then I took the whole seam apart (i will try to explain the best i can) If you hold your arm straight up in the air the seam that goes from the wrist to the waist.... I took a seam ripper and took the seam apart then I got stretchy material about 4 inches wide and the length of the seam and sewed it to the shirt. I also did it with his winter coat. His coat wouldn,t close otherwise and It is cold here. (in New Jersey) I don't know what the weather is like where you are if it is warm then the t shirts acouple sizes bigger will be fine. Also sweat pants, the zippers and snaps are quite difficult. Good luck and if you have any questions about the clothing (how to alter then) don't hesitate to ask. I'll help any way I can. My email is whatwhome@msn.com if you'd rather. I will keep you in my prayers.
