My Mother-in-law had surgery in April to remove a node in her arm pit area. She has been in pain ever since. The doctor just recently suggested that this nerve group may be the problem. They say is shows swelling and possible damage. She has been getting worse ever since the surgery. She was on the go all the time at first she just slowed down and in the past 3 month has'nt left the house hardle at all and in the past month hasnt even left the chair. For the last couple days the doctor gave her 40mg oxy coton and has even been awake except for a couple hours a day. We have been to a dozen doctors with no help. We have an appointment in Nov with a pain specialist in Pittsburgh. If any one could please give me any direction. Anything would be helpful. If you live in the pittsburgh area and know a good doctor that would be even better.
Thanks in advance Adam

Hello Adam,
really sorry to hear about your mother in law...
Here is the link to the medical resources area on this site to a Dr. Adelson in Pittsburgh...
http://ubpn.org/medicalresources/ad ... ntact.html
you will gain more information on him if you read his answers to the questionaire. I didn't read it myself so I am not sure if he works with adults or just children - but his email is listed, so contact him. If he doesn't work with adults then I am sure he can refer your mother in law to a doctor who does - in your area.
I hope that something changes soon and that her pain and spirits are lifted,
francine

I came here to paste the same link Francine already has, so I'll just say I hope your mother in law gets some help soon and feels better. I was like a zombie on the pain meds too and felt so much better when I ditched them.
She is lucky she has a caring son in law, please come back and let us know how she is getting on. Jen NZ
