Please tell us what you are doing for Awareness Week. Don't be shy about it- even if you are just doing one thing- that's great. Even one little thing can be an inspiration to us all and can make an intervention in the world.
SURVEY: What are you doing for Awareness Week?
Re: SURVEY: What are you doing for Awareness Week?
Ok I'll start.
Maia and I plan on bringing hand cookies (that have a heart cut out of the palm, that we will bake) to school for snack. Maia and I are putting on a little show: Maia & Mommy's Bathtime Theater. (maia and I put on 'plays' in the bathtub using all of our bath props including shampoo bottles, toothbrushes, cups, ducks, etc.) We will be doing 3 stories: Cinderella, The Mitten, and The Owl.
I have a packet made up for each of the families including Maia's story, a quick facts sheet and an Outreach and I'm asking each parent to pass on the information to one other family (and ask them to share with one other family and have the cycle continue).
Maia and I will ring our bell each morning and say a prayer for the thousands of people who have a bpi. And we will light a candle at dinner each night.
Maia's having her ear surgery on Wednesay so our week will be limited.

Well I copied off the quick fact sheet and made several copies for my mom, husband, sister-in-law, father-in-law to hand at work with a picture of Hannah on it. We will cont. to pray for people with BP. I was going to write a letter to the editor, but my time got away from me.

Well, I guess I started by handing out the silver ribbons and Mariella's story to each of her birthday guests. I will be handing out more silver ribbons, I am in the process of trying to get a letter published in our newspaper to the editor, and we will lite a candle everynight and say prayers for everyone with a BPI and their family. Not sure what else we will do...I may end up thinking of something else. Hope everyone has fun doing these awareness things!!

I am going to write a letter to the editor, or possibly hit up my friend that works at our local newspaper.
Re: SURVEY: What are you doing for Awareness Week?
I'm telling my story about growing up with a BPI to all my residents as well as some RIT staff members, and my fellow RAs on the 18th, and afterwards distributing ribbons.

I am hoping to write a letter to the editor of the local paper and just drop it off on Monday. Of course, say daily prayers for all of us and the children. I gave copies of Outreach to my lawyer, and the therapists involved. Happened to be at a medical group the other day and strolled into the OB/GYN office an left a copy there too.I will put brochures at my church and give some to the woman who runs the playgroup during the week. Also, at the pool where my kids take lessons.

My 4 year old robpi starts school on Monday. He will give all the staff AWARENESS ribbons the his mommy made and the he helped with. All the teachers will get awareness packets and his teachers have volunteered to talk to the kids and pass on wareness information to the families....at the end of the week we will celebrate with a party. Cupcakes with "SILVER" awareness ribbons and candy bags for all.
Also, I work in a pretty large store and we will all be wearing awareness ribbons and will be handing out information at the table my bosses are allowing em to set up !!!!
