- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: My name is Brittany, I'm 27 and the mother of two beautiful baby girls. Annabelle who is 22 months old and our newest edition Gracie who is 8 weeks old. Gracie suffered from a brachial plexus injury at birth, 12/10/13 and it has been quite a journey. She was born at 39 weeks and weighed 9ibs 5oz, we imediatley knew there was something wrong, and asked the doctor and nurses about it in the delivery room. They responded by saying it was nothing to worry about and acted like it was no big deal and would resolve itself with time. Our pediatrician was not much more help, more give it time it will get better. After the 2 week check we finally got a diagnosis, sort of... My husbands aunt had two children with Erbs palsy and finally we had something to go on. I immediately started researching and trying to figure out what to do to make it better, we are now doing pt with an ot once a week and daily on our own and have seen doctors at the brachial plexus institute in Houston, TX.
Parents of infants with BPI?
Hi, Im Brittany, my 8 weeks old daugter Gracie sustained a brachial plexus injury at birth, this has been quite a journey so far! We are currently doing pt once a week with an ot and on our own and have met with doctors at the Brachial Plexus Institute in Houston, TX. Around 3 months we will go back to doctors in Houston and see if our next step should be surgery. I just want to talk to others who have been through the same thing and see what advice/experiance you all have to share!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Brittany,
FYI, Parents usually go to the "General Forum" ...go to the "FORUMS" Link at the top of the Home page and click and all Forums should come up and post on the "General Forum". Parents usually don't go on the "Traumatic Brachial Plexus Injuries .
Welcome Brittney to our UBPN Family. There is no dumb question only the one not asked.
