My 26 yr-old son suffered his TBPI 2 mo ago. Therapy is hesitant to use electric muscle stimulation since we really don't know the extent of his injury at this point (mayo in a month). Anyone use this for therapy? at what point of your injury did you start using it? How often? Does it seem to help? Any info on the subject is greatly appreciated - pros and cons please! Thanks!

My buddy Ryan had all his nerves bp nerves torn, no avulsion. but he's been using his for almost 5 years now i think and he has power in every muscle in his arm and can close his hand, cant open it though. Idk how much it has to do with that but it obviously didnt hurt. 4 years after his injury he was able to close his hand.

hope that helps a little.

Do it as often as you can.

I would say keep it a minimal. What's really important right now is regardless of what any occupational therapist or doctor says you need to get him to a b.p.I. specialist as quickly as possible.
