My short term memory has been seriously compromised from my accident. I used to think it was the medication, mostly neurontin and methadone, but now I know it's more than that.
The promising thing about all of this, is that we live in an amazing time and era where we realize the brain is "plastic" and can be worked with and improved. As my meditative coach at UCLA's Mindfulness Awareness Research Center ( http://marc.ucla.edu ) says "Fire it to wire it" (meaning repeated thought or action establishes & builds the neural connection).
