i have had a low-grade fever for the past 2 or 3 days. my hand feels like it is more painful than usual. is being sick or not feeling well cause a BPI to be more painful? i just had surgery 6 weeks ago and got my splint off last week. so i am thinking it may be from being stiff due to being immobilized or if being sick can cause it to hurt more. ?????

my son doesn't complain about his arm when he gets sick. He has gotten sick after each of his surgeries though as immune systems are weakened after an operation... hope you get to feeling better! Recovering from surgery and being sick at the same time is not fun.

Dear Joyce,
Being 6 weeks out from surgery I suggest checking with your Doctor just to be on the safe side, huh? Let us know...

I agree with Carolyn...
Sounds almost surgery related or a slight infection

Sounds like it may be a complication/infection from surgery. Infections can travel in the bloodstream. If you spot a redline traveling up your arm go to an ER room immediately. I hope everything heals soon!

Hi,
I'm Sarah. I don't know whether I can be of any help, I cannot relate to the current surgery part, but when I get sick my scar on my neck gets red. I had a neuroma removed when I was nine months old. So, it is that scar that gets red. Everybody's body is different, maybe your hand will be affected.
Hope you heal up!

As Sarah said, everyone is a little different but yes, our BPI'S are affected by our over all health.
