Maia & her drums....

Post by F-Litz »

Warning: complete unadulterated braggathon in this post

Maia is 13 now and has been drumming since she was 8. She doesn't have a lot of use of her left arm and it's very contracted but she can really make things happen with every other part of her body.

This is the girl that when she was 4 months old I sat there crying at a picnic watching other kids toss a ball and I thought that she would never be able to toss a ball or do anything other kids would do.... but I had a great therapist who told me not to worry - that our kids figure things out and do things their "own way".

Here's the proof - listen for that drummer girl trying out that Gene Krupa style for the first time.

From her very proud momma,

Wow, she rocks! Chris and I just enjoyed the performance. He pointed out to me that Louie Prima (Italian) wrote the song...Benny Goodman just made it famous! You're certainly allowed to brag, Fran! Our girls have come a looooong way in 13 years, eh?!
