"normal" developmental milestones

DJ is now 1 year old (6/19) He recently had Botox with a cast on for 6 weeks. The cast is now off and he is supposed to be wearing a brace for 20 hours a day. This brace was molded 6 weeks ago (the day of the botox and casting) I am having difficulty with the bend that was put in for the elbow actually fitting where it should. The OT/PT was not there the day we had the cast removed and pickd up the brace. The surgeon did not put the brace on so he hasn't seen how it fits. The only person to see it on him was the person who made it and that was only for about 5 minutes. When we got back home and had an appt with our OT in our hometown, she did not like how it fit, said the angle was not good for the arm. Have since been in contact with the BP team in Kansas City and was told to put the brace on for the time stated and get in to have the brace refitted. I can not get in for 2 weeks. Should I be worried about 1) more damage than good until the thing is fixed and 2) 20 hrs a day is a long time. will this negatively affect his develpoment?
We were really pleased with our BP team until now, I feel like we are some sort of guinea pig and not being told.
