if you have a rehab center or rehab hospital in your area, contact them. you may have to have a dr referal. but that is how my sis got an elbow slint for her son. they are extremely hard to find on your own. his was special ordered and made to fit.

Have you tried "Theraproducts".. they email me all the time. I used to get Juliana stuff from them. If I can find an old email I will forward it to you.

Thank you for your responses. I thought that the air splints were easily accessible but I guess I was wrong. Now I wish I hadn't thrown away that old catalog I saved for years, only to need it now!
Claudia, I tried that website and searched the internet for a while to find a pediatric air splint with no success. Thanks anyway for checking. I hope all is going well for you. Evan had the best time at the camp and periodically asks when the next one will be. Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to make it happen! : ) Sema

my nephew just passed away in january. he needed splints 24/7 literally. he had a self-mutilating disease. when his splints had to be changed, he had to have thick mitts on his hands and his hands tied down before the splints could be removed or he would hurt himself within seconds. the ONLY way he could get splints was to get them from a therapist. even that was hard because it is considered a restraint. restraints are frowned upon legally. you have to have some kind of HARD CORE PROOF that restraints are medically necessary. it was even harder to get the mitts. some kind of human rights group yelled and screamed that restraints are ALWAYS a bad thing. that is not always true. it kept him from mutilating himself to death. good luck in finding splints.

Sema,
I know for sure that Physical Therapists have a number of "Sources" for these things than we the people do. So try a friendly clinic in your area and ask them about the slpint you need & why. Don't stop calling Therapy Clinics until you find a friendly helpful one....that's how they market their Clinics...at least smart ones do!..

wow sema i was trying to let you know why it is so hard to find splints.and how to get them. i DO know a little about splints. if you dont want to know how to get them. then i will quit trying to help. maybe, since carolyn is telling you the same thing, you might listen to her. dont know why you dont want to respond to me but i really dont care either way.

I actually wanted to find the splint so I could take all the necessary info to our therapist for her to order it, since we decided it would be helpful for weightbearing exercises. I really didn't think it would be a big deal and it's not.
jmar, it was not my intention to offend you if you feel that I have. I responded to both of your posts and I appreciate you trying to be helpful.
Once again, thanks everyone for taking the time to respond.
