Hello,

I'm nineteen years old and I have BPI since birth. I have almost fully recovered and I have almost full amplitude of movement with the exception of classic outwards position (as if swinging tennis rocket) and I can't put my hand behind my head without help of my left hand. It's also difficult to lift heavy weight higher then elbow level and when I carry something in my hand it start to tremble.
I want to know if it's still possible to have a Nerve Repair surgery at this age or am I considered to old for that? Any kind of information would be of a great help! Thank you!!

Unfortunately nerve repair or "primary" surgery is too late (18 yrs too late!). There are "secondary" surgeries, like tendon/muscle transfers possible, but you would need to speak to a specialist and really compare the pros and cons.

Welcome to the message boards!

Klioris,
1st, WELCOME to UBPN and the message boards. I advise you to check out the BPI Specialists List on the "Medical Resources " link on the Homepage & try to get a thorough evaluation of your OBPI injuries....everyone's injuries are different.
Feel free to ask questions, there is no such thing as a dumb question on any of the message boards and everyone is welcome to post on any of the message boards. Personally, I have learned alot about Pain Management from the TBPI Boards as well as the General Boards too.
