Dr. Kozin

Dear UBPN community

I'm a lawyer in Cleveland, Ohio and I represent an 11-month old boy who's been seen by the folks in the brachial plexus clinics at Akron Children's Hospital and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Unfortunately, each center has given mom very divergent opinions about her son's brachial plexus injury and what to do about it -- surgery or no surgery. She is understandably confused and upset. Having represented many of these children over the years in many states east of the Mississippi, I'm very familiar with other excellent centers. Getting a third opinion would seem to be a good option for mom and I think Dr. Kozin is the next closest expert to Ohio. However, mom is concerned about her time frame for surgery & also has a concern about the time and expense of traveling to Philadelphia. I told her that we need to turn to this great network for more information. Can you tell us whether it is possible for mom to talk to Dr. Kozin & provide him information about her son without making the trip to Philadelphia? The Texas Children's team had a video-tape system they used that addressed this situation. Does Dr. Kozin?

Thank you so much for your input.

Yes Yes! please have your mother contact Dr Kozin at Shriner's Hospital in Philadelphia. Contact Information is in the Medical Resources Link on the homepage. Also, please know that persons are able o read all message boards as a "Guest' but just cannot post questions and/or responses unless registered. Some people have anonymous names for alot of reasons and that is OK too. Just follow the directions on the "Register" page.

I wish this mother luck and hope she contacts these Caring, Experienced,Informed Mothers,Fathers and Adults born with these injuries and Adults with Tramatic Brachial Plexus Injuries. I am 72 yrs ols and am still learning from everyone here in our UBPN Families.

I just took my son to see Dr. Kozin less than a month ago. Have the childs regular dr or his BP specialist call Shriners and explain the childs need and urgency. They WILL get him in as soon as they can. I saw that someone posted about the RMH. We stayed there and it was amazing, as they all are! Please note that if she flies there instead of driving, the cab fare in $50.00 from the airport to the RMH.

***Please contact me privately if you want more information about the Texas team!

Good luck to her and her child
