We had an insurance meeting at work today. We have the flexable medical spending account avaiable at my new job. You can set aside dollars pretax and get reimbused for medical expenses. This is new to me and I am really excited. It covers copays, therapy, and travel expenses associated with seeing specialist. It might be worth checking with your employer about. Basically with it being pre-tax you save about 28% since you are not paying taxes on it.

When I was working we had something similar but it had to be used up at the end of the year or you lost it...it is a wonderful idea, just be careful...

It also covers any fees associated with swimming if that was ordered by a doctor. So I was able to have the fees from my local health club reimbursed through this plan. So if you are using a local pool for therapy that you have to pay a membership for, it should cover this.

wow, I have this available at work but never thought to use it for travel expenses or the pool. Although I am not sure why my ins just doesn't put a heated pool at my house with what they have had to pay out for therapies so far.

Patty-got your e-mail & sent you one.

When I read through what was covered and not covered, the swimming issue is ify. It depends on how your company interprets the law. If it is a family membership at a health club it probably will not cover it. You are going to need a lot of documentation and be prepared to show exactly why it is needed. It can't hurt to ask about it though. Also if you have to by taping/splinting supplies, you can us the flex spending for it.
