I just wanted to brag. My son Nicholas has a very severe LOBPI. He is seven years old and in the first grade. After four surgeries, he has had no recovery and no return of function. We always encourage him to try everything and if he really puts his heart and mind towards doing something, anything is possible. He had been talking to my husband and I for weeks about wanting to do Jump Rope for Heart. So, we told him to go for it. We had to modify his method a little. His left arm hangs flaccid by his side and we knew this would be a tough one. We taught him how to hold the rope in both hands, but only swing the rope over his head using his right arm. He did it!!!!!!! He came home sooo exicted. He was able to jump rope 26 times!!!! We are sooo proud and he is even more proud than we are. I just wanted to post this message b/c there are many times that we are going to have to find ways to over come obstacles, but where there is a will there is usually a way around them. Way to go Nicholas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     Nicholas is a strong minded kid. My Mom always told me that if I looked at things and said "I Can't, it means you won't." Nicholas is a perfect example of how obpi children can do anything they put their minds to. OBPI children are very creative thinkers and usually find a way to do what ever it is they want to.

Congratulations to him and to his parents for encouraging Nicholas to be all that he can be and to have the courage to try.
I always told my kids there is no harm in failure, only in failure to try!
