Hello all,
I had a parent contact me looking to connect with another parent that has a child with a paralyzed right diaphragm at birth. The brachial plexus was stretched, and baby has gained full function, but the family is facing surgery to repair the nerve for the diaphragm. Please let me know if you or anyone you know has experienced this.
You can email me at stlbpi@yahoo.com and I will give your contact info to the family.
Thanks,
Anise
BPI at birth with affected Right diaphragm
Re: BPI at birth with affected Right diaphragm
Thomas has a weak diaphram on the left side no surgery for it. He did have nerve graft surgery at 5 1/2 months. He can't laugh without getting the hiccupps because of it. So far it has not caused any problem. I wish you the best

Re: BPI at birth with affected Right diaphragm
Question for you Carron, were they able to officially diagnose your child with the week diaphragm? I ask because I am wondering how they can do this. My little girl hiccups EVERYTIME she laughs and I wonder if that can be contributing to it...hmmmm.
Thanks,
Diana
Thanks,
Diana

Hiccups is from the diaphram spasm. I was told by his doctor thats why he gets the hiccups every times he laughs and he hates it....... He has always done this since he was born he has lobpi.

we use a self help tool called EFT for hiccuping -- (remember kath?) - it is also called meridian tapping.
when the child is old enough to understand (age 4'ish I think), they can do it with you, then they can become independent with it.... http://www.emofree.com
it also works on all kinds of phobias, fears, etc.
