An update on some truly amazing recovery

I have read so many posts on this site over the last year. I have also talked personally to some individuals as well. This message board got me through my darkest days in the first 4 months of my injury. Most of the posts seem to be either a newly injured, or a veteran giving advice. What we don't see a lot of is when people recover to a fairly "normal" state. I think people tend to feel there may not be much to say if they have progressed to being back to normal or near normal. Maybe because not many people actually see that much recovery. The reason I am posting is because I want to give people who have been recently injured some hope.
I am now 13 1/2 months post accident and it is amazing the recovery I have seen. From 5 1/2 months to present my recovery has been steady. My arm went from being fully paralyzed (except for my hand) to now fully functional. I have most of my shoulder range of motion back (I would say all, but some spots are still a little difficult) and all arm function back. Some function has just recently come back. I have a lot of work to do to build strength, but my hope is once you have function, strength should slowly follow. I feel great about where I am now, and am very excited to see what another year of recovery will do.
I am not trying to relish in what has been happening to me, but rather let some people know severe stretch injuries can and do heal. It may not be perfect in the end, but as you all know, anything is better than nothing. Thanks you all for contributing to this site, it has done wonders for me. JJ
