i know it's been FOREVER since i posted...danni and i are doing pretty well. the last year and a half have seen MAJOR changes in mine and her lives.she had her 2nd surgery last june..and it has made her arm function at least 80% better.still, when she's tired..it gets tucked up close to her body..but i'm so HAPPY with the improvement!!!! mucho thanks to dr. chris reilly at bc children's hosp in vancouver b.c..canada for that.(i also hired a private physio to come over once a week and keep us motivated.what a blessing. it's kinda weird to not be 100% focused on danni's right arm..as i was for the last 5 yrs. i am also dealing with some bottled up delayed grief that i was very good at helping others cope with. so i guess that's a good thing too...just tell myself it's all about moving forward. good days/bad days...we all have them.
i am happy to see the board is still up and better than ever. i used to be a "regular" once upon a time. for the last 2 yrs i've been doing the "single mom" thing.working CRAZY hours..trying to be as great a mom as possible through that..left no time for anything else.it's been a much needed sabbatical.plus..i needed to be away from the intensity of the sadness i was starting to feel around doing support work for new parents. *sigh*...a major decision that has it's own dollop of guilt..but nonetheless..self care 1st!!!
i still am time strapped, but could see myself perusing the boards and chatting occasionally. i made lots of good friends through this board..and a quick note...if anyone in b.c canada needs some resource info..i still have lots to offer.- my phone number in outreach is off by a number...it's (604)-514-1407.
take care..kim lane

Greetings Kim and Dani, nice to see you around. We are glad to hear Dani is doing well, congrats! Dr. Reily decided not to do the muscle transfer for Ashley after all because the muscle needing to be transfered was too weak! We are in the process of taping a video for TCH, and are mailing it soon!

Take care,
Lenni and Ashley from Powell River

Wow Lenni,

It's been a LONG time since I was online. How are You & Ashley doing?
We are good. Dani rides her horse a lot, and unfortunatley injured her "able" arm by over using it while volunteering in Spring Break. :( Tendonitis. Sounds like it is a reality for our kids when one arm is working more than the other. So I hope this resolves better. She is feeling quite bad about it. I came back online to see if other's have had similiar issues and how they deal with it.
I come and go on the board as it is too much sometimes...a passive role is best for me.

I am sorry, I never saw your reply until now. I went offline shortly after writing that post.

Take care,

Kim
