I've been cycling a lot this summer, and lately, I've been going on longer and longer rides. After a few days of 4 or 5 hours rides, I noticed that the tips of my ring and pinky fingers felt numb on my BPI hand. No tingling, just numb. They stayed that way for a few days, gaining a little feeling day to day. Today, it's still slightly numb, but not bad, and it seems like I have a little more range of motion in those fingers, which have always been the worst.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Do you think I might be inadvertantly doing damage that I don't yet realize? Part of me thinks that it might be a good thing because it seems like I have a fraction more usage of these little fingers, but the other part of me thinks that any numbness is not a good thing no matter how you look at it.
I've been trying to work on my balance so that my hands are less weight-bearing than I have been making them.
As always, any insight is greatly appreciated!

Re: Cycling and Numbness
You may have compressed nerves in your wrist when you cycle.. I would ask an MD about it though.

Re: Cycling and Numbness
I am an LOBPI and an avid cyclist. I have done 6 century (100 mile) rides for charity. When I am done, my entire body is out of joint. The difference in arm length make it very difficult. I get a lot of stress in my neck, shoulders, arms, wrists and hands. Takes a few days to recoup so I understand your dilemma !! I can't imagine a way to avoid it though. I thought about a customized handlebar where the left side would be closer so i didn't have to be so uneven. I love to cycle but the long rides are brutal!
