Hello,
Wesley is almost there. Still 7 days to go in his bandage and than we hope he will get out of it. He went to surgery on the 18th of July this year to have an osteomy on the underarm (wrist). He has no function in his wrist, hand and fingers. But there are muscles there which can work if they they are stimulated to do so. The wrist is still a problem but we will overcome that one. He had to go to the hospital for 3 day, day 1 checking in and visit the docter day 2 surgery and day 3 checking out. He was very angry that he had to have the surgery and that he didn't want it anymore. After 2 weeks this complaint went away when he could bent his fingers and make a fist. Now he can squeeze and pick something up. There are already some results.
Time will tell how far this will go. We have low expectations so the joy can be greater. We knew that there was something in the fingers that works otherwise we wouln't have done this.
Can wait till next week ........ Bad thing is that after that week he needs to go to therapie twice a week. We only went once every 6 weeks. We have the mentality that to often is no good and I can do a lot with him if I bought some toys as we use in Therapy. and also i stimuled it very much. The prevetion of getting ... (bone can not turn) I learned it from the therapist and I do it at home. I swing every week with him and make it my own to do. There fore I ( he) has only to go once every 6 weeks. But now that is over for some time. We will get over it. Things are looking good at the moment.

Re: wesley's osteomy
This sounds great!! Happy recovery!! One word of warning the intense therapy may be hard for him to put up with because he's not used to it. I know My son didreally good doing twice a week for about 2 weeks then he got an attitude of leave me the heck alone!!! I can't blame him. We also do therapy ourselves and it is easier on him mentally.
I'm excited to hear about his great movements!
