Hi, I am looking for some advice and help to my questions. I am an adult who does not play sports or anything like that. I was orignally diagnose with M.S. and was very unsure of my doctor. So I decided to get a second opinion. The new doctor Iam going to said that I have something called Brachial Plexus and really didnt explain anything to me. I have alot of symptoms which are like M.S. and now I am not sure if this doctor is right or the other is. Then MRI doesnt show any lesions so I am so confused now I dont know what to do!! If anyone out there can help me I would be so very greatful. What Iam looking for is can someone explain what kind of symptoms you have with this brachial plexus... thank you kjtj

did a doctor say bpinjury? erbs palsy?
there is an adult page too by the way you might get better support from...
have you had this condition from birth and if not, when it began, was it a result of some sort of physical trauma? Is your arm internally rotated? do you have trouble reaching behind your head? ...in your back pockets?those are some questions that might help you to decide.
Most of the parents on this particular site have children who have a BPI as a result of a birth injury, many adults have trauma BPIs.
I like your attitude of having an open mind and realizing that you are the best person to decide, theres lots of information on this site, good luck divine guidance and blessings, mary

Where do you live? If you tell us where you live, you might be in the vicinity of a brachial plexus specialist. That would be your best bet to finding out the true nature of your problem.
in the Resources area here there is as list of doctors - I don't think this list is up-to-date but it is a start - here is the direct link.
http://ubpn.org/weblinks/index.php? ... tal/Doctor
many of us here go to Texas Children's Hospital. Those doctors have also had great success with adults who they follow up at a hospital called TIRR in the same area in Houston, TX.
On the adult message board here there are many other adults who have brachial plexus injuries from birth or from a traumatic experience.
anyway - I hope you find answers soon,
take care,

Everyone has a Brachial Plexus. It is the name for a bundle of nerves that run between the neck and the shoulder. If you get an injury to this it can cause you to have a palsy. You didn't really mention how severe your symptoms are.....Some people damage their Brachial Plexus by sleeping on it very hard(I think it usually recovers from that)
I agree with the advice of Francine about going to a specialist.
I know I have had times in my life where I have been dehydrated or under-nourished and I had a hard time reaching above my head and blow drying my hair etc...
After I got my health back up I recovered from the strange sensation. Try a healthy diet and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day while waiting to see your doctor. I also take a multivitamin everyday now and learned better nutrition. (All my problems stemmed from morning(noon and night)sickness during pregnancy.
Good luck to you in finding answers.
T.
It might not be TIRR...might be Methodist...

I'm not sure about this and thought about it afterwards....I know it's just another hospital and not TCH...but in the same vicinity.
