Surgery VS. No Surgery

Post by Tessie258 »

O.K. I know I'm opening a can of worms here but I think it needs to be done because some people started the conversation in another thread and it was recommended to start a new thread.

I think there are many different ways to deal with an injury that effects so many people in different ways.

I mean to say a child has a BPI, doesn't really illustrate how severe the damage is. Someone with an injury that isn't severe may think it is crazy to do surgery and take a chance at losing function. Where a person with a child with a severe injury may think someone is crazy NOT to operate.

I think everyone needs to assess their own situations with the help of their specialists, their family and maybe even their clergy or Higher Power if neccessary.

I am almost positive that I can say all the genuine parents here on the board don't want to see ANY children hurt. I hope that we as parents of children with varying degrees of injury can respect each other to do surgery or forego it.

I think sometimes our anger at the fact that our child was injured in the first place comes out in unhealthy ways and we tend to start blaming each other because we choose to treat it differently than another.

We all carry around pain in our hearts that our child was injured and it's painful for someone to accuse another of doing the wrong thing just because they choose to do it differently.

I hope we all can find the peace we need to deal with this injury and show charity towards others along the way.

Love to ya,
T.

I agree with the above post. We should all be respectful and remember each others feelings. Not only is each childs injury different but no one can walk in your shoes but YOURSELF. Also remember NO ONE knows your child better than YOU! We are here to support and share ideas with each other not tear each other down. We have all been through alot, let us try to not have to deal with more here. I personally get some great ideas and information from other parents. Thank you to everyone!!!!!!!!

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE. WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT SITUATIONS AND NEED TO MAKE THE BEST CHOICE FOR OUR CHILD.
