taping for scapula

Post by teacherandmom »

I need a website to show how to do the taping for the winging. The therapists want to start doing it for my daughter, but I wanted to know if anyone had a child that had super sensitive skin and what they did to prevent it from breaking out with the taping. I think someone used milk of magnesia on the skin first. Let me know. Thanks, :)

there are several kids in our egroup that are doing the taping, I am looking at it(getting the therapist to look at it) myself for ZekeMax, I hope you will post for us your childs presenting characteristics and then tell us how you are taping and how you think its helping?
okok- I ask alot but I love to hear the many different ways that Ive heard about taping, I dont think there is just one particular right way, ofcourse depending on your child, your therapist, etc etc some are prolly better than others Im investigating too-
I will watch hopefully for more taping posts from you as to how its going
ps no sensitive skin in our group that I remember but Ill ask-

My son's PT is taping his scapula for winging, and also his shoulder because he tends to hold it in an elevated postion. I was wondering what kind of tape your therapists use. We tried the kinesiotape with Josh , but it didn't seem to do much. We now use a white tape (Biedersdorf sp?) which seems to be more effective at keeping things in position.
Also has anyone used taping for wrist drop (lack of wrist extension)?
