Convertible car seat after surgery???

Hi everyone,
My 7 month old daughter is having surgery with Dr. Kozin in Phili at the end of the month to repair C5-6 from her OBPI.
I know they have "lender" car seats, but she is quickly growing out of her infant seat anyway so I thought I might buy a convertible seat for her before the surgery. Does anyone know if there is a convertible seat that will be ok after her surgery so we don't have to borrow?
She will be casted "out" as her shoulder has become so internally rotated that it became dislocated. they will be injecting her rotator muscles with Botox the should will (hopefully) not become dislocated again while healing.

Any help would be great!

If you could find a car seat that doesn't have the side "wings" that would work best...and most have the adjustable straps that can be adjusted in the front.

best of luck with the surgery,
francine

My son had the ACR surgery with Dr Kozin in October when he was 11 months old and was also casted out. We use the Evenflo-Triumph-Advance-Convertible-Seat. It comes in several different fabrics, colors, you can get it at Target or Babies R Us. I love that the strap adjusts by using a knob on the side of the seat. It's much easier than the ones you adjust in the front, I have one of those in my husband's car. It made it very easy to get the strap tight on him once he was in the seat. I actually get pretty good at getting him into the straps without having to adjust them, just put the casted arm in first as you put the baby in the seat.
The other thing to consider is the stroller, we had an umbrella stroller, but the seat sat back and the bar got in the way of the cast. I had to get him a new one with a seat that sits forward more. We got the baby trend stroller, much more comfortable for him. I still use it, it's a great stroller and not to expensive.
Good luck to your daughter, best wishes for a great recovery. They bounce back so fast when they are so little.

We had a car seat with the wings and never had a problem with the cast. I think most seats won't give you a problem.

Thanks for everyone's help! We found a Britax Marathon that looks similar to the Evenflow Triumph that was suggested that will last her well into her "booster seat" days. It has very similar un-winged sides like the Triumph so hopefully it will work!
