We are going through evaluations for secondary surgery with our son who is five with ROBPI. My question is: Is it best for the child to have secondary surgery by the age of 5 or 6 to get the best results from the surgery, or does the age for surgery vary depending on ability? Is there any research on this?

secondary surgeries can be done for different reasons at different times

there are many kinds of secondary surgeries

some secondary surgeries have age limitations and some don't

check with your specialist

best of luck,

Frankie had the mod quad at 14 yrs old we saw some improvement and it took away his pain but I believe now that if it was done when he was 5 he would have gotten A LOT more movement the doctor said his muscles were the tightest he had seen in a child and the muscles were athphoyed dispite therapy done everyday for 14 yrs
Hope this helps Mare
