newbie...?'s about Dr. Park

Post by LoriTop »

Hello! My name is Lori and my DD Sophia has received a provisional diagnosis of BPP by her peds ortho. She is 9 months old and had her right humerus broken during the birth process. at first the ortho did not think she had any nerve damage but as time has gone on she is not using the right arm as well or as much as her left. although she does have a good bit of movement and ROM. We have an appointment scheduled with a peds neuro but not until may 28. and we have also started the process fo trying to get some OT through first steps (early interventuion) which I feel is not gonna happen but that is a whole nother issue.

St Louis and Dr Park would be the closest BP specialty clinic to us but I would like more info. I hear lots of good stuff about Dr. Nath in houston and Dr Kozin in philly. I would like to start with someone closer to us if possible.

so what can you tell me???? feel free to email me privately if you prefer topfam@windstream.net

Hi Lori I'm Mare my son Frankie is 16 and has a lobpi he has seen many doctors since birth Dr Nath, Dr Kozin and Dr Cornwall are just three of many my advice to you is always get a second and if possible a third opinion before deciding on a surgery and when looking for OT or PT check your childrens hosp they have specialist that not only know what and what not to do with a bpi injury but they are trained to make the experience as fun as possible for a baby Frankie started at 6 weeks with therapy and at 16 still does it everyother day so its important to make it as pleasant as possible.

Maggie(7) had her primary surgery with Dr Park we still see him yearly for checkups.

She had absolutely no movement and now she uses it pretty well as a helper arm. She will be having secondary surgery next month with Dr Goldfarb which is in Barns Childrens as well and then in a few months another surgery with Dr Borschel.

From what ive heard both of these other Drs are very professional and kid friendly as well, just for other oppinions. I made two drs appt for Maggie with two different drs in the same day, we live in IL and it worked out great.

Hope everything turns out alright for you and your family.
