Food Allergies

My daughter has A LOT of food allergies. Is there any documented evidence stating the bpi could have caused this? Thanks.

Please don't take this the wrong way...but not everything that is imperfect in your child is related to bpi. Yes, I know the whole body is effected, but periferal nerve damage is not the same thing as a histamine response to food antigens.

Your child's whole body chemsitry was set up before the moment at birth when she was injured. The chemistry that is making her food allergic was most likely there before the injury.

Two of my four kids have food allergies. One is a twin and the other is my bpi child. However, the one who has the worst of the food allergies is my daughter the twin. Now if twinship had anything to do with food allergies, her brother should be allergic too. And he's not.

You don't say how old your bpi daughter is, but I know that as the kids get older, it is easier to see them as people and less as a "bpi child".

Find yourself a really good allergist. If you are so inclined, go the homeopathic route (we have lots of moms who could help us there). Read the tons of books that are out there regarding food allergies.

Keep this injury in perspective.

I have to agree with Claudia however, I understand why you may be thinking the way that you are. My daughter has a RBPI, she also has food allergies and excema. I thought about linking them together but in all honesty her allergies/excema have nothing to do with her injury. I have five children - two of which have allergies and excema. I guess it just runs in the family...

Keep in mind that you daughter may outgrow these allergies. So while I do understand that a good mom exsplores everything, no matter how unrelated they may seem, do keep things in perspective. Good Luck!

Thank you for your replies. The only reason I'm asking is b/c of a few different people I've met who "insisted" they were linked. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, just in case someone did know something I don't. -I wish there was a definitive manual on this stuff, but as you all know, it often comes down to a lot of researching and questioning to help our kids. I'm just another mom who wants to feel I've done everything I can for my kid, even if a question may seem silly. Thank you.

Have you tried probiotics? They are suppossed to help with allergies esp food and support immune system. I don't think all the vaccinations help either and their little bodies get so stressed from the vaccinations and antibiotics they get. A little good bacteria can't hurt. Not saying not to do the vaccinations but just that it is a stress to immune system which has a lot to do with the gut and allergies too. Best of luck.
