New / old member...feeling down, need a doctor.

I was an active member several years ago and attended a meeting in Chicago. It was such a great time...Ii felt like I was a member of an extended family. Although I promised to keep in touch, finishing my MBA took precedent and I went back to business as usual ignoring my circumstances.

Some back ground: I have a OBPI which affects my left shoulder and arm. I have managed to be successful in life in spite of the injury but I am finding that as I age it really is starting to affect me mentally and physically. My injured arm feels like it's getting worse and my good arm is suffering from being over-worked.

I am now 40 and going through a divorce. I've always been a very strong woman, however the thought of being alone with my arm getting worse scares me.

I've never had an EMG or MRI to see exactly how severe my injury is or what can be done at this late age. My arm is now bent at the elbow and it hurts. I would like to have bicep lengthing (sp?) but every time I try to find a doctor in my area they only see children.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Thank you kindly.

Jazz

Welcome back Jazz,
sorry to hear about your divorce. What are your travel abilities? The Mayo in MN see adult OBPI. I have been there and although I havent met the main bpi docs, the one that I have seen there is fabulous with my care.
Also have you checked out the doctors listed in the med resources? (click the resource tab at the top of the page and then doc listing)

Good luck finding someone,
Amy 22 years old ROBPI from MN

Although I am willing and able to travel I would really like to find a local doctor. I work in the automotive industry and as you can imagine I am extremely busy trying to deal with the economic slowdown and total collapse of the US auto market. Everyday it seems I am trying to find a new supplier because one closed or filed Chapter 11. Not fun at all but it requires me to work very long hours so extended visits out of state is not feasible at this time.

I did check the listings on this site but only found doctors who treat children.

I just had a terrific bout of Parsonage-Turner and I swear I thought I'd die of the pain and discomfort. I'm usually able to suffer through it but this time was completely different. I think it was brought on because of the stress of my divorce (and work). I was the one to file and now that it's moving forward I became terrified and started to have second thoughts. But after multiple infidelity's (on his part) there really is no other option.

I was at one point thinking of Dr. Nath but I really want to find someone local just in case there are complications.

Kind regards.

Another option would be to interview all your local docs and see if any of them would be willing to "train" under a known bpi doc. I know the dr that I see is a hand specialist but took me on and has worked out very well for me. He is in close contact with other well known bpi docs all the time and when he doesnt know the answer he is the first to admit that and then find someone who does.

Might be an option?
Good luck,
Amy

This doctor is in Cleveland, filled out a questionnaire, and does see adult patients.

Did you try here?
