The Outreach Awareness Issue is almost ready to go to the printer and it's stocked with some really great articles - and a great article for TBPI on Neuropathic Pain.
Do you have one GREAT picture of you involved in therapy or involved in exercise or something like that?
It has to be crisp and very high quality.
Email your BEST choice today to
francine@injurednewborn.com.
Thanks!

Hi
I'm afraid that no pics of
myselfexercising or doing anything remotely energetic exist, but if you go along to
http://www.tbpi-group.org you will find pictures and articles about people with a TBPI getting on with life...and involved in many activities proving that this injury is really
not a disability, only if you let it be.
More articles and pics etc are being added almost daily as they are submitted for inclusion; there is also a good article on central pain with TBPI and several items about driving adaptions etc. There are many more articles underway that include medical information, and these will be verified for accuracy by the medical professionals before being uploaded to the site. It is all coming together quite quickly now. :0)
If anyone would like anything included on the site, please email me at
liz@tbpi-group.org
As this is the only non-personal support site that we know of that is aimed particularly at adults with a BPI, perhaps it could be mentioned in the next Outreach Awareness edition, since there is still time before it goes to print?? Cheeky I know, but if you never ask, you never get, right??
)
Kind regards
Liz B

I will not be able to use any of the pictures unless there is permission from the person to use it. So if you have a few great pictures and you know who submtited them - can you email them and ask if it can be used for Outreach or actually just have them email me directly to
francine@injurednewborn.com?
Also- we will look for a spot to include your site but in describing it, I'm a little stuck on how you describe it. What does a "non-personal support site" mean? Sorry for being dense today I've been out in the heat at my daughter's camp all day. Can you explain what this means so our description of the site will match the intention of your site ? Thanks

Hi Fran;
There isn't really a short answer to this, but...
What I meant was it isn't just a personal website/home page compiled by myself alone, but a resource for and by the TBPI group, and it will have information relevant to adults with a BPI added to it regularly. Most of the articles have been written and submitted by people with a TBPI, and there will be medical and anatomical information added as and when it has been verified and approved by the medical profession. This way, we hope to build up a resource of trustworthy, reliable and accurate information, and at the same time, promote positive and supportive images for all the adults with a BPI, particularly the newly injured and their families. It may be a small site at the moment, but there are many articles and other items in the pipeline, and we are confident that it will continue to grow.
….anyway, to get back on topic.. ;0)…I’m sure you’ll get plenty of offers of pics but I’ll ask around anyway …I’ll ask peeps to email you directly…hope I answered your question OK; been sitting in the sun today too..Yup; we do have that sometimes in the U.K!! :0)

wow lizzee it's wonderful to wake up today and see this post.....i never thought we'd get here!
To describe the site more succinctly (Liz has been sittin in the sun but believe me I've been freezing!) Liz and I discussed this and came up with 'A new tbpi support website and the only one on the internet produced by and dedicated to the needs of the injured people themselves'
It's a pity we didn't know sooner there was to be a tbpi article in outreach, did anyone post on here? Sorry if I missed it, I've been VERY busy and Liz is a harsh taskmaster for a lass with one arm :0)
Do check out the new site from the link in Liz's post above, it took longer than we expected because we asked professionals to check everything out after the comments made about support sites at the syposium in Paris, we felt we needed their support if we were to get at our intended audience ie newly injured tbpi, they like what they see so far......I know from talking to Liz that since she posted the number of hits has gone thru the roof, if there's anything YOU want to see on there please let either of us know....this site's content is for injured people and we value their input above all else, in fact we couldn't have done it without all of you who have helped already with feedback and support....thanks guys!

Liz & Jenny - thanks for the input! It was 96 degrees here today with a heat index (humidity level) that made it feel like 105 - and I was out in the sun all day. But it was Parent's Day at Maia's camp and it was great watching the kids 'do their thing' and took our minds off the heat mostly...and water ice did the rest!

you'll find them under 'community'-if there's a deadline the brits might be in bed as I'm sure Liz is.
