I did the first full pull up in my life yesterday! I never thought I'd ever do that! I know that's not very exciting to most people, but I thought the people here might understand how happy I am about that. All I could do was one, but that's a start!

Thanks everyone! No one else I know seems to understand how excited I am about this. I've been doing one a day since Monday, so I'm at a life time total of 3 now and I'm really happy! It took a long time to develop! It took me about 6 months to learn to do a push up when I was 13, and it's taken about a year to get to the point of actually doing a pull up since when I decided I wanted to do that. It takes a lot longer to learn, but it definitely has developed over time. I think I can do as many or more full push ups as a person with two fully functional arms, and I'm pretty sure I can get to that point with anything I set my mind to. We all can! It means sooooo much to me to have people that appreciate just how hard this "simple" personal accomplishment has been.

Hi Chris,

I'm the mom of a bilaterally injured child and I can totally identify with the feeling that the world in general does not appreciate how huge these milestones are!

It made my heart smile to read that you can do a pull up! If I ever see my daughter do a pull up or a push up, I will dissolve into tears (probably to the bewilderment of those around me).

You keep right on celebrating this victory! We'll do the happy dance with you! :) Congratulations!
