shoulder/postural support braces?

Post by tnmoore »

Hello all, my name is Nicole, and I have not posted for some time, but I have Left OBPI. I just started to have pain between my left shoulder blade & thoracic vertebrae. Not sure exactly what might be going on, but thinking it has to do with the brachial plexus. I started doing chiro visits which is helping, and I called my PT to see about exercises and possibly getting a shoulder/postural brace. My question is for those who have that brace which ones do you recommend as far as comfort and helping push the shoulders up & back?

Hey Nicole,
Havent heard from you since camp 2005. So sorry to hear you aare starting to have pain there. sounds pretty similar to where my pain was.
I wear a figure 8 strap that my OT made for me. I have also used kinesio tape. I will find pictures later and post a link...I just cant remember where I posted them right now and I have to get to class.
Hope this helps!

Here is the link for a picture that shows how my figure 8 strap was before we added an adjustable component to make the strap tighter without having to make a new strap. Hope this helps!

Hi,
I tried the tape a few times but it caused so many muscle spasms in my lower back I couldn't stand it.
Isn't so easy to remove either. I went to a doctor that prescribed a compression type brace that worked pretty well. It was made of neoprene...a little hot and a little bulky but it was really helpful on trips. Walking around a lot with my arm "hanging" down caused a lot of pain in my shoulder but the brace helped.
Good luck!
