outreach in brief

I got the Spring 2002 Outreach in Brief today, thanks guys :0) I was wondering-I see it cost 80 cents to mail, would it be possible to send this via email if we opted for that? I realise the normal Outreach would be difficult to send via email, but this is only one sheet. It would save UBPN money, not to mention saving the trees!

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the suggestion, but our online community is only a portion of our mailing list. We have 3200 on our mailing list and the print publication reaches far far more people. Not everyone has a computer nor do those with computers always check the website.

We do hope to have Outreach also available on the website for reference reasons. It is one of the future enhancement plans.

And once again those of you overseas have received your copies before those of us in the U.S. I don't even have a copy in my own mailbox yet!

Hiya

I received my one last week...only just got around to opening tho because we have been away. The printed version is good because of the reasons stated (for people without an internet connection etc..) and also because its a handy thing to keep by you as an instant reference, and to show to other peeps who want to know more about BPI generally. I know the U.K. Erb's Palsy group rely more on the printed word rather than the internet to pass on information to the members and their families.

hi nancy, yes i realise how many of the community are not online, but i meant could we receive it by email if we opted to? Every little saving helps :0)If it's not possible, it doesn't matter.

Hazel,

The Post Office is supposed to notify us of mail address changes but it does not always happen. You can mail your address change to me at the address of nancy@ubpn.org.

If you are on the mailing list you will get Outreach. It is a database that gets sent to the printers. If you don't want a physical copy you'll need to ask me to take you off the mailing list. Outreach is not available in email format at the present time.

I'm a computer buff. I love all things computer. But since Maia was born, I have collected a little pile of Outreach's. I treasure that corner of my bookcase. I know that each one is packed with things that are just timeless. I go back and read the ones from that very first year and I still find things that I didn't find when I first read it. I'm still touched by each and every article. I love touching the paper itself - it's something physical that comes out of this community - when ALL here is digital.

Nancy and Bridget, I hope Outreach always stays a paper magazine and as a matter of fact, I will be sending you a donation for Outreach. Thanks for providing this community with such a wonderful publication.
